History of Ownership

In 1963, the Office of Administration of Domestic Restitution in Stadthagen gave “approximately 4300” envelopes with personal effects of former concentration camp inmates to the ITS. (See also the finding aid for the collection at the ITS at http://findmittel.its-arolsen.org/B1_Innere_Restitutionen/index.htm as well as information about the collection on this web page under 1.2.9.3.) This archival collection contains all the personal effects from the Neuengamme concentration camp whose original owners’ names were not transmitted and can no longer be ascertained.
